During the summer of 2001, Portland State University senior capstone students, in partnership with the Multnomah County Library, Hollywood Branch, participated in a local history project. A class of thirteen students interested in gathering history on the Hollywood neighborhood conducted research at the Oregon Historical Society, Portland City Archives, and local libraries. The most valuable information, however, came from the community. Oral histories, old photographs, and keepsakes were shared with the class by long time Hollywood residents and businesses. From these archives, old photographs, and memories, the students pieced together a collective history that has been shared in a temporary display, pamphlet, and this web page.
